After award-winning PBS writer/performer Slash Coleman finished writing his book "From Starving to Thriving: The Art of Business for Creatives," he came up with an idea so unusual and outside-the-box that it baffled most everyone he told (including his literary agent). "You must live in Slash Land!" she said. What was the idea? Instead of publishing the book, why not create a show built around the chapters of the book?
"Celebrates the essential power of art to illuminate our common humanity." - PBS
The Birth of an Idea
Infusing NYC’s hip east village stage at UNDER St. Marks with a distinct blend of DIY creative charm, the show features everything you've come to expect in Slash Coleman's live shows - storytelling, music, multi-media, comedy, eccentric friends with charming idiosyncrasies, inspirational interviews with cutting-edge artists and profound stories of success by cultural change makers.
Slash Wednesday is the result. One show a month - One chapter a month - 12 in all. Taking things back to the days of the oral tradition when knowledge and entertainment were passed along fireside from mouth to ear, the goal is a simple one - to celebrate the essential power of art to illuminate our common humanity.
